The whole point of using an external hard drive is because the memory on a normal computer although contains enough memory, to cope with the editing proses doesn't have the capacity to cope with the amount of work it is having to do. So the computer would run very slow and the footage would play jerky in the system; as the computer is not coping with the extra workload that it has to do and so this is a vital reason why an external hard drive has to be used.

use hardware (computers, hard disks, flask memory)
Using all three of the above is also one of the sections on my task three sheet. I have clearly demonstrated that I have used all three on my tasks with the first two pieces of work, these being the advert and the documentary, which have both been edited on the computers at college that have a designated hard drive for the purpose of editing. Then the back ups of the rushes and found footage that were needed where backed up on a memory stick.
