Crosscutting

Cross Cutting is a technique used when it comes to a film wanting to show two or more timelines of different people at once. So they will show two different locations of two different peoples lives that don't even have to link. Similar to Parallel Editing, however not leading to the same place eventually, so there could be a gang fight and then a little girl getting ready for bed, they could link in the sense that the target for the gang is the little girls father, but they do no have to lead to the same location at the end of the sequence.
The example below is from the film Inception and shows two fight scenes that are happening we assume at the same time, and is between two different organisations. this showing the cross cutting technique well, as it is showing two different lots of peoples lives at once.
